Eder Castillo (b. 1977, Tlalnepantla, México).
Self-taught Visual artist and curator focused on sociocultural research and art in public space, at the intersection of architecture, visual arts, and anthropology. His projects point to an interaction between the non-traditional public and art. In parallel, he has developed professionally in the field of curating, teaching and cultural management.
He participated in the International Artistic Residency Program of Casa Guardabarranco in Guatemala (2023), in the Research and Production Artistic Residency Program of the YAXS Foundation in Guatemala (2021), in the Casa Vecina Cultural Residency program of the Fundación del Centro Histórico de la Ciudad from Mexico AC (2017); the Tabacalera Estancias Residency Program for Ibero-American Commissioners organized by the Ministry of Culture of Spain (2015); and the Artistic Residency of the Arteria Foundation-Gilberto Alzate Avendaño Foundation of Colombia (2012).
He was a beneficiary of the PAC/COVID-19 Support Fund of the Contemporary Art Board (2020), of the FONCA-CONACYT International Artist Residency Program (2012-2013), of the Young Creators Program in the Alternative Media category of FONCA (2010- 2011), from the FONCA Special Support Program (2010), from the Support Program for Production and Research in Art and the Media of the Multimedia Center-CNA (2006-2007) and from the National System of Art Creators of the Ministry of Culture of Mexico in the SNCA-FONCA Alternative Media category (2020-2023).
He has been a Jury of the Social Program "Colectivos Culturales Comunitarios Ciudad de México (2020)" in the disciplines of Visual and Plastic Arts, Jury and Tutor in the disciplines of Visual Arts and New Media of the Program for the Encouragement of Artistic Creation and Development (PECDA 2017-2018) of the Secretary of Culture of CDMX, Jury of the International Festival of Electronic Arts and Video "Inquieta Imagen" of the Museum of Contemporary Art and Design of Costa Rica MADC (2011), and Jury of the Contest "From Plano to Cube" organized by the Cultural Office of Spain in Mexico (2011).
His work has been shown in Spain, Switzerland, Sweden, Italy, Slovenia, Poland, Indonesia, Japan, Egypt, South Africa, USA, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Puerto Rico, Colombia, Brazil, Argentina, Ecuador, Mexico, among other countries.
